January Critical Commute

On the last Friday of each month a group of cyclists ride en-masse into Manchester to promote cycling as a means of commuting.  Now the use of the words "en-masse" might not have been justified in past months, in fact in October, to be honest, it was just me on my own representing the whole of North Manchester but no matter, from tiny acorns and all that.  This month we had a record turnout of 6 at the starting point in Prestwich including a couple of guys who hadn’t joined us before.  It actually felt like we had a presence on the road.
It was a great day for it too; Dry, mild and I didn’t notice the strong wind blowing (it must have been pushing us along).  Bury New Road was clogged with cars because the Metrolink wasn’t running all the way from Bury.  There had been flooding across the tracks near Radcliffe earlier in the week.
We were much quicker into town than the cars and with a couple of us wearing the Love Your Bike vests I bet we made 1 or 2 motorists think about a possible alternative to their frustrating commute.
