We were initially told it would take 7 weeks to complete the conversion and after 7 weeks we’re almost there. The plumbers have held things up and they finally completed the first fix this week. Dean tiled the shower enclosure whilst his Dad finished the plastering in the bathroom. The sink shower and radiators should be plumbed in this week, Dean will finish the tiling and then there’s just a light and fan to be wired in by Dean’s electrician brother.
Catriona finished the final gloss work the loft bedroom and the carpet is due to arrive this week. I can’t wait to have that room finished as it will enable us to juggle furnature around and allow some parts of the house to return to normal.
Over the weekend we have been working on the bathroom, putting a couple of coats of emulsion on the freshly plastered walls with an additional splash of the final colour on the walls which will be partially obscured by sink and towel rail. We spent this evening assembiling a sink vanity unit which was not quite as straightforward a job as I had expected it would be. The bathroom wood has had a couple of coats of undercoat and is read to gloss, though we’ll wait until all the grubby handed workmen have disappeared before applying any more final coats.
